Unidentified copper alloy object with inlaid enamel and millefiori panels, initially thought to be a Roman seal box dating from 1st to mid 3rd century AD. The object is square in plan with two small rounded projections, one on each of the long sides. The upper surface has been divided into three rows of four square shaped cells.Each of the four corner cells contains a black and which chequer-board pattern of miliflori.The other cells are empty but may originally have contained coloured enamel. A medieval copper alloy suspension mount for a harness pendant dating 13th -14th century. The mount has a slightly domed circular face with two suspension loops projecting from the lower surface and a stud, slightly off centre, on the reverse. The suspension loops appear to have been cast as an integral part of the object, and would have had an axis pin from which the harness pendant suspends.There are possible traces of the axis pin in one of the loops. Early post-medieval cast copper alloy dress fastener (the loop or eye section of a two-part clasp), similar to Class A as defined by Read (2008, 164). The object is oval with two rectangular projections on either side.There are three rounded attachment knops - one at the end of the oval, and two either side of the rectangular 'eye' which is broken.The central oval has relief moulded decoration, which appears to be a cherub face with scrolls either side.The reverse of the object is undecorated.
