A fragment of a Brooch of Roman date (AD 43-410). The retained portion is the lower bow and catchplate. The bow is D shaped in section and slightly tapering rectangular in plan. The bow has two circumferential transverse incised lines above the foot. The catchplate is sub-triangular and recurved. The metal is a mid-green in colour with a slightly pitted patina. Length: 32.24mm, Width: 4.04mm, Thickness (bow): 3.65mm, Weight: 4.4g.
