Twelve flint scrapers probably from the Paleolithic dating to c 450,000-420,000 BC. Cortex is visible on some of the pieces and evidence of recortexing on one of the pieces. There is evidence of a bulb of percussion and concoidal rings on the ventral surfaces of all the pieces. The patina of the cortex is yellowish cream cortex with black flecks. The inner core of 9 of the flakes is light khaki brown with inclusions of white and dark brown marks. The other three flakes have a darker greyish brown core. The heaviest piece weighs 17.51g and measures 34.33mm in length, 27.75mm in width a…

Object type: SCRAPER (TOOL)
Broad period: PALAEOLITHIC
County: Wiltshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A flint scraper probably from the Paleolithic dating to c 450,000-420,000 BC. The flint has original cortex on the outer side and fresh cortex has developed on the inner surface. There are also small areas where the cortex may have been removed at a later date. There are also pits on the outer dorsal surface which may have been removed, although this may be the result of natural taphonomic processes. The inner ventral surface has evidence of a bulb of percussion with concoidal rings. There appears to be evidence of a flattened area and light retouch around the dorsal edge of the scrap…

Object type: CORE
Broad period: UNKNOWN
County: Leicestershire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
Prehistoric core, a worked nodule of grey flint, with some original cortex remaining. The nodule is irregularly shaped and has possibly been worked from different angles at widely spaced intervals, as it has partially recorticated. Possibly Mesolithic in date, and perhaps reworked in the Neolithic, or possibly the Bronze age.
Maximum length 34.6mm, width 33.8mm, thickness 19.3mm; mass 15.4g.

Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
Prehistoric secondary flake of dark grey flint. Roughly triangular in plan and pyramidal in cross-section, with white cortex remaining over three-quarters of the dorsal face. It appears to have suffered some damage while in the ploughzone, but there is evidence of probable abrupt retouch at two of the edges, and it may have functioned as a scraper.
Uncertain date, probably late Neolithic or early Bronze age, but could be earlier.
Length 33.1 mm, width 28.8 mm, thickness 9.3 mm, mass 6.8 g.
