A copper-alloy stud chape from a post-medieval, two-piece shoe or knee buckle dating from c. AD 1660-1720. Description: The chape is sub-triangular in plan and consists of a folded sheet copper-alloy frame with a single, raised, mushroom-shaped stud attached at the narrower end by riveting it through the frame. The chape is folded and notched at the wider end, creating two loops to accept the spindle and a central notch to accomodate the pin of the buckle.
