A very worn silver hammered penny possibly struck for Edward III, dating c. 1344-1351. Possibly a third coinage, 'Florin' issue, mint of London. Lombardic 'L' on reverse. Initial mark uncertain. Copper-alloy corrosion products suggest that this coin may be somewhat debased, or possibly a contemporary copy.
