An incomplete early Roman copper alloy One-Piece Colchester brooch. The wings are flat and rectangular, and hide a spring behind which extends from the centre of the reverse. The spring has one coil before it is broken. At the top in the centre is an upward curving hook. The bow is oval in section and curves from the wings. It has been distorted; the bottom of the bow is spayed outwards and the reverse of the bow is hollow. The brooch appears to be miscast rather than broken.
