A fragment of a cast copper alloy Roman brooch, possibly a Colchester two piece or a T shape type, dating to the 1st or 2nd century AD. The item consists of the lower part of the bow with the catchplate intact. The bow, of which ony a little survives above the catchplate, appears to have been flat, and is decorated with three raised rdges, one at each edge and one centrally, this decoration ceasing about 17mm from a rounded foot. The catchplate extends c14mm backwards from the bow. The fragment is 32.73mm in length, 6.84mm in width and weighs 3.51g.

An incomplete copper-alloy one-piece brooch of 'Nauheim derivative' La Tene III type of the Late Iron Age or Early Roman period (c. AD 10-c. AD 100). Some of the spring, the pin and catch-plate are missing. The brooch has a head with an internal chord. It has an incomplete bilateral four-coil spring which extended to form the pin, now missing. The upper part of the bow is triangular in plan, C shape in section, and tapers to the point where the catchplate would flare out but this is entirely missing except for a small flat section. A complete bronze socketed knife. It is slightly damaged at the tip of the blade. The hollow rectangular socket has convex long sides and flat short sides. It measures 16.36 mm x 21.82 mm with internal dimensions 11.66 mm x 16.18 mm. The socket is approximately 48 mm long inside and tapers slightly to the blade. There are two small circular attachment holes one in each of the long sides at the mid point towards the top of the socket ( 3.05 mm internal diameter).
