A heavily clipped Post Medieval silver coin of Elizabeth I, probably a sixpence dating from AD 1595. Initial mark unknown, mint probably London. Cf. North 1991 Vol II, p. 137, no. 2015. The combination of the obverse bust left with rose behind head right and the date '1595' surmounting the reverse shield suggests that this is the correct identification. The entire circumference of the coin has been clipped including 100% of the legends. There is a possible damaged pierced hole (at six o'clock) on one edge near the top of the shield.
