A probably incomplete early post-medieval (1500-1700) copper alloy book-clasp, with damage to the terminal expansion. The clasp is formed from a thin rectangular strip of metal with a rectangular expansion at one end beyond which a flat, rounded-end hook projecs (width 3.3mm) and extending at the other end into a splayed terminal. It retains the remains of two copper alloy rivets c.4mm in diameter, each close to either end. An early post-medieval (1500-1700) copper alloy book-clasp, with slight damage to the terminal expansion. It retains two corroded iron rivet c.4mm in diameter, in situ near to the terminal expansion and the (terminal expansion side of) the fold. The clasp is formed from a thin rectangular strip of metal with an integral blunt projecting hook (4.2mm wide) at one end and the terminal expansion (cracked along its edge) to the other. An incomplete copper alloy gilded book clasp dating to c.1300-1500, of Howsam type A.9.2. The fitting comprises a rectangular plate leading into a narrowed and waisted plate.
