About one half of a Middle Saxon to Late Saxon copper alloy Ansate brooch with a catchplate on the reverse. On the front there is a transverse rib at the base of the bow and another at the top next to the break (which is not ancient). Thörle 2001 Gruppe X. Hübener 1972 Gruppe 9. Extant length 23mm. Width 10mm. Weight 3.15g. 9th century.

A silver Roman denarius of Diva Faustina (AD 138-161), dating to the period AD 141-161 (Reece period 7). CONSECRATIO reverse type depicting a Peacock walking right head turned left. Mint of Rome. As RIC III, p. 73, no. 384. The crescentic shadow across the reverse suggests this coin was originally deposited with at least one other and is probably part of a hoard.

A complete medieval cast copper alloy rectangular horse harness pendants, dating to the 14th century AD. It is 42.48mm in length (including the suspension loop), 31.30mm in width and 1.38mm thick. The loop is offset at ninety degrees to the face of the pendant, canted slightly forward. There is gilding evident in a number of areas on the face and the main decoration is of three longitudinal rows of rope-like pattern alhough this is very worn and there may be other features which are obscured. The reverse appears to have no decoration. It weighs 7.44g.

Late Saxon weight comprising a square lead base on which is set a white-metal coated copper alloy four-sided truncated pyramidical mount. A fine contour line surrounds all four sides of the mount, and on its flat top sinuous interlace, now damaged and incomplete lies recessed within a square collar. Part of the motif remains covered by a layer of pressed gold sheet. The base is abraded and pockmarked with small parts of the surface missing. Most of the coating has been lost from the sides. A complete post-Medieval stud fastener in the form of a button, stud or cufflink (c. 1750-c. 1850). Both elements are joined together by an integral shank which is circular in cross-section and has a diameter of 2.6mm. A complete medieval cast copper-alloy bar mount, dating to AD 1350-1400. This is a bar mount with terminal lobes or lugs and a plano-convex central lobe or boss which is decorated with raised transverse ridges. There are rivets through holes in each lug, both of which retain the rivet, and there is a circular piercing in the cntre of the central lobe. The bar mount is 19.94mm in length, 9.40mm in width and weighs 1.99g. Similar bar mounts to this can be seen in Read's Metal Artefacts of Antiquity (2001) nos.149-156.

A Roman ceramic rim sherd, probably dating to c. AD 43-410. A hard fired, reduced fabric, with dark grey core and and paler surfaces, but with a black wiped/burnished surface surviving in less abraded areas. Very fine grained with sparce sand inclusions, comprising of fine, sub-angular quartz grains, <0.3mm, with rarer, larger ferrous <0.5mm and limestone <0.75mm inclusions (both also sub-angular). From a jar or shouldered bowl with an everted, beaded rim. Weight: 13.48g.

A complete but damaged lead-alloy token dating to the Post-Medieval period. This type of token is known as 'Lyon counter', and dates to the period c. AD 1575-1589. The obverse of the token depicts a crowned lion facing left, rampant, within a circular border in the form of a belt or garter. Lead probable weight. A cast object formed by inserting a finger end into damp coarse sand, which has left a clear cast of the tip and fingernail of the maker's index finger. Copper alloy thimble. Conical pressed metal thimble with a broad plain basal zone. The upper half of the wall is occupied by machine stamped circular pits which appear as if rising up the wall in diagonal rows from right to left. The top bears similar pits in a probably concentric arrangement, and is iron stained; there appears to have been a separate thicker lay on the top, now chipped. Incomplete gilded copper alloy object of probably 12th - 13th century date. It consists of an oval, slightly concavo-convex plate engraved with a voided concave-sided cross, the terminals of which are obscured by corrosion and wear. In the centre is a concave-sided lozenge with traces of punched stippling. One edge of the plate exhibits a thickened oval-sectioned collar with, on one side, the stub of a projecting attachment loop. The object appears to have been designed for suspension, possibly as a form of pendant, however, its exact purpose remains unclear.
