Fragment of a late medieval copper alloy purse bar. The bar is of solid oval section and is rectangular in plan but slightly upward curved at the ends, with a rounded terminal. A tab extends from the base which contains a slot or hole. The bar is decorated with criss-cross paired lines, probably originally of niello. The mount measures 40.23 mm in length, 10.05 mm wide (including tab) and 5.03 mm thick, including the lugs. It weighs 8.72 g
