Description: Incomplete gilded silver object, probably an element from a composite hooked tag of Read’s (2008) Class C. It comprises a rectangular openwork plate, C-shaped in cross-section and open at each end. The openwork is a lattice design with a raised pellet at each intersection. Incomplete, bent and slightly molten Early Saxon copper alloy bow brooch (small-long or cruciform). The upper edge and sides of the headplate are missing. The short triangular-sectioned bow has facets at the top and base. Incomplete rectangular footplate. Ancient breaks. On the reverse there are the corroded remains of the iron pin around a single pin lug and molten remains of the catchplate. Extant length 39.5mm. Extant width 19mm. Weight 10.45g. c.480 - c.530 AD.

Possible furniture mount, two copper alloy sheet plates (16 x 16mm and 17 x 17mm) secured by four copper alloy rivets and containing fragments of wood (thickness 7mm). Engraved decoration on both faces, one face comprising: an engraved border with an engraved line projecting inwards from each side and ending in a perforation, between the arms of a saltire; the other face with an engraved border with an engraved line projecting inwards from each side and ending in an arrow head and perforation, between pairs of oblique lines forming the arms of a cross paty. 9mm thick. 14th century.

Very unusual medieval zoomorphic strap fitting or book mount, sub-circular domed with (missing) separate central rivet, six perforations comprise a pair of eyes, a nose represented by a triangular arrangement of three small perforations and an oval slot for the mouth. Further decoration comprises a triangular arrangement of engraved lines on the forehead, a vertical line on both sides defining slight lobes for a pair of ears. Height 18mm. Width 17mm. Height 4mm. 14th century.

Description: Incomplete late early-medieval sheet-gold finger-ring. It consists of a flat pointed-oval bezel tapering into the flat shoulders of the hoop, both now flattened and one bent at a sharp angle. Each shoulder terminates in a jagged transverse break. Punched decoration consists of a border of opposed triangles running around the edge of the bezel and converging to run in two rows along each shoulder.
