A complete lead or lead alloy bird feeder, of Late Medieval or early post-Medieval date (c. 1450-1700). The rim describes a semi-circular shape when seen from above; the sides taper from the rim towards the semi-circular flat base. The rear face is flat and plain, giving a D-shaped cross-section. The front has three ridged lines (including a ridge along the rim) and a dotted line below, as decoration around the flared top. Copper alloy Iron Age to early Roman enamelled vessel mount. The mount has an integral upper loop projecting from a pelta shaped attachment body. One wing of the body is missing from an old break. On the reverse is an integral transverse raised bar with substantial evidence of iron staining beneath. The location tallies with a circular recess on the front face which in turn is filled with iron corrosion.
