A early-medieval gold shilling (or thrymsa) dating to the period AD 655-c.675. 'Two emperors' type, mint in Kent. Obverse: pearl diademed cuirassed bust right; pseudo-legend around. Reverse: bust of angel or Victory with wings above two facing heads (emperors), circular ornament below representing the globe in the prototype (Metcalf 79-80; N.20; S.767)

A complete medieval gold finger ring with a sapphire setting. The hoop is circular in plan and even in thickness until reaching the bezel where it thickens and widens slightly at either side. The bezel is circular or a rounded hexagon in plan with slightly rounded corners and is hexagonal in section. The bezel has a hollow diamond-shaped void in the centre open to the top and holds a sapphire which has fallen back into the void behind the opening.
