An incomplete cast copper-alloy bow brooch of Aesica type (Mackreth class 2c) dating to the Late Iron Age or early Roman period, c. 25-60 AD. The spring and pin are missing in old damage, though otherwise the object is preserved intact. It demonstrates a hemi-spherically sectioned winged head, with a projecting rearward facing hook at its midpoint. Incomplete Roman copper alloy and iron key dating to the period c. AD 150 - 409. The openwork handle consists of two comma-shaped lobes with a moulded stem rising between them which exhibits an old break at the top. At the bottom it tapers into a rectangular socket, each face engraved with a saltire cross with a transverse groove above and below. The socket retains the corroded remains of the iron shank and terminates in an old break. See: Bishop 1996:77, no. 469 and Crummy 1983: 126, fig. 142, no. 4161) and usually dated from the later 2nd to 4th centuries.

Copper alloy brooch fragment. Cast hinged Colchester derivative brooch, Mackreth 2001, Part 4, Group CD H 9.b or East Midlands Enamelled. A rounded bow clasps tubular wings clenched behind retaining hinged pin on an axis bar, the latter possibly of iron as suggested by extruded rust. A pair of ridges down the side of the bow flank the uppermost of a series of rectangular cut-outs for enamel, one retaining a trace of mid blue enamel. Most of the bow is lost. Suggested date: Early Roman, 70-130. Length: 12.6mm, Width: 25.9mm, Thickness (crest of bow): 6.8mm, Weight: 5.68gms

Copper alloy brooch fragment. Cast bow of a hinged Colchester derivative brooch, probably Mackreth 2011, type CD H 9.b, also termed the East Midlands Enamelled, though no colorant now remains, and none was perhaps ever applied. The possibility that this might belong to Mackreth's rearhook family of brooches might also be entertained; if so, the hook is lost. A complete Roman copper alloy Baldock type nail cleaner dating from c.43 - 200 AD. The cleaner is leaf shape, and flat. The tip of the cleaner is shaped into two sharp, pointy prongs. The central notch is slightly off centre. There is an incised line running along the edge of the blade on both sides. At the attachment end is a sub-triangular shaped suspension loop, pierced with a circular hole in the centre. The corners are rounded, and the attachment sits at 90 degrees to the nail cleaner. A copper alloy Early Medieval Anglo-Scandinavian disc brooch decorated in Terslev style, probably dating from the 10th century, about AD 900 - 1000. The brooch is circular and has a domed boss at the centre. It is decorated with four symmetrical C-scrolls or volutes, their curved backs towards the centre, bound by a double-stranded square which has a lozenge-shaped element at each corner. An incomplete cast copper alloy Roman Colchester derivative, double-lugged, Harlow brooch dating from the first century AD. The brooch retains both wings and about a third of the bow - the lower section of the bow containing the foot and catchplate is broken and missing. The wings retain the spring which is tensioned through the double lugs and it retains the complete length of the pin. The wings are decorated with a terminal rib and incised chevron decoration along their backs; the centre of the bow has a groove running down its length. There is no other decoration. AD 43-100.
