The decoration comprises multiple incuse dots (containing gilding, now standing proud of the decayed surrounding surface) forming a cross-on-saltire, with a single dot between each of the radiating arms. Fragment of Anglo-Saxon gilt copper alloy probable mount, narrow sub-triangular inner end broken with its deep bordering rim curling outward and then back on itself and continuing as the convex outer edge of an expanded terminal. The recessed pelta shaped inner field is decorated asymmetrical single-strand interlace, pierced by a single secondary drilled hole. A small fragment of the inner field survives at the break before the springing of the scrolls with a sub-triangular mounlding. Extant length 17mm. Width 21mm. 3.5mm thick. 4.261g. 8th century.
