A fragment of a Medieval to post-Medieval copper-alloy purse bar (c. 1450-c. 1550). This purse bar is incomplete as the arms are missing due to breaks. The central block measures: 15.0mm in width; 8.9mm in depth and 6.2mm in width. It has a vertical hole to accommodate the shank of the suspension loop. This hole enables the suspension loop of the purse to rotate. The loop measures 29.4mm in height, 16.0mm in width and 5.2mm in thickness. Incomplete lead medieval pilgrim's ampulla (c. 1200 - 1500 AD). The base of the ampulla is flat and rounded in plan, with a slightly flattened bottom. It is hollow; while the ampulla would originally have been used to hold holy water associated with the shrine of a saint, its cavity is now filled with organic detriment due to the context of its deposition. A complete copper alloy strap fitting or mount probably dating to the Roman period (AD 43 - AD 410). The strap fitting consists of a rectangular plate with rounded edges. The upper face may be decorated, but the condition is too worn to confirm this. There is a central, circular attachment loop on the reverse. The metal is worn and dark green in colour. The object is 16.7 mm long, 9.0 mm wide, and 9.3 mm thick. It weighs 3.5 g. An incomplete copper alloy flat enamelled disc brooch dating to the Roman period (AD 80 - AD 250). The brooch is circular and flat, with part of the outer edge missing. The decoration consists of a raised, central ring encircled by sixteen pellets. This is then surrounded by a pointed star, with a minimum of thirteen points (and likely sixteen originally). Copper-alloy fragment from a medieval seal matrix (c. 1200 - 1500 AD). The fragment is small, being only 12.49mm in length, 8.71mm in width and 2.86mm thick. It weighs 0.99g. The fragment is from the bottom of what appears to be a flat, round seal matrix. It is sub-triangular in shape, with the original curved outer edge and three straight broken edges. The broken edges are worn. An incomplete cast copper-alloy collar originating from a knife and dating to the later Medieval or early Post-Medieval periods, c 1400-1550. It is sub-rectangular in plan and 'D' shaped in section, with a large central rectangular aperture where the collar would have slipped onto the blade. Preserved in good condition with an even green patina, it measures 9.15mm long, 12.83mm wide, and 9.03mm thick. It weighs 2.99g. A number of similar knife collars have been recorded on the PAS database, these include LEIC-5F5A53, LEIC-933794 and LEIC-932A96.
