A very worn but complete Post-Medieval copper-alloy farthing trade token dating to exactly 1653, struck for Iohn (John) Capon of Framlingham, a grocer. As Williamson no. 125.

Farthing trade tokens were first issued in 1648 as a response to the lack of small change, with halfpenny tokens being introduced later. They were suppressed in 1674 under Royal authority.

A lead-alloy token dating to the medieval period. The token is flat and semi-circular in plan. Its upper surface is decorated with a cross motif in relief with a pellet in relief in each of the fields created by the cross. The underside is plain. The token measures 25mm in diameter and 3mm in thickness. It weighs 3.84g.
