Lead spindle whorl of probable early medieval date. In the form of a flat disc weighing 39.8g, of 24.9mm diameter with a centrally located straight-sided 9.5mm aperture, and a thickness of 10.7mm. The underside is very slightly concave, and the item is completely covered in grey-white patination. The whorl conforms to Walton-Rogers form B, and therefore probably dates to c.900 - 1100AD.

Description: The token's upper face is decorated with a capital H proceeded by fleur-de-lis all within a raised border cast in relief. Measurements: 27.41mm in diameter, 1.93mm thick and 6.13g in weight. Discussion: Although probably dating from after 1700, this object may relate to the Honeychild Manor which was frequently home to powerful individuals, many of whom were very influential on Romney Marsh. It may, therefore be relevant to the Fifth Continent project on Romney Marsh.

The mount possesses a body which is heart-shaped in plan with a trilobate extension at the apex of the heart. On the underside, there extend two integrally-cast attachment lugs. An incomplete copper-alloy Early Medieval (Anglo Saxon) buckle with integral plate. It has an oval frame with a sub-circular cross-section. Only a small fragment of the integral plate survives and it is pierced to house the copper-alloy pin, still in situ. The pin has a D-shaped cross-section and after passing through the hole in the plate, it is wrapped around the frame. The pin tip slightly curves downward to rest on the buckle frame. Cf. An incomplete late Roman Irchester bowl which was deposited with the rim facing the surface. Roughly a third of the bowl is missing. The bowl is 85mm in height, the base is convex and from the base the body expands to its maximum width just below the rim (256mm) before tapering inwards slightly to the rim (236mm) which has a bevelled edge (2.5mm thick). The omphalos base is convex on the outside and is domed upwards in the centre (70mm in diameter), internally the centre of the raised boss to the rim is 81mm. Medieval copper alloy sheet repair of vessel, probably a cooking vessel. The repair patch is oval in shape with a rectangular piece in the centre which protrudes onto the reverse side to form the actual repair. This would have been folded over onto the main vessel to repair the break. The oval patch is 27mm long and 19mm wide. The rectangular central piece is 20mm by 9mm. The reverse of the plate has a ridge in the centre parallel to the rectangular plate and is the remains of the section that was folded over to form the repair. Weight 5g

A copper alloy chape possibly from a medieval scabbard (AD c. 1300 - c. 1500). The chape is comprised of one piece of sheet metal folded to slightly overlap and form a conical shape. The chape has no decoration and is slightly damaged at both ends. Length 42.66mm, width 11.11mm and weight 2.29g. Read (2001, p. 84 and 90, fig. 58, nos 679-81) dates simple chapes like this to the 14th - 15th centuries.

Medieval (c. 1230 to c. 1400) buckle: The copper alloy buckle frame is a sub-D shape which has a pronounced lipped notch for the pin. The strap bar is slightly off-set, and only slightly narrowed. The frame is flat on the reverse. The pin is missing. The surface of the frame is a dark brown colour. The buckle and plate measures 21.43mm long, and 25.3mm wide across the frame. It weighs 1.87g. Iron Age to Roman (150 BC to 4th century) ring: A copper alloy sub-oval copper alloy ring with a bi-convex section with rounded corners. The surface of the ring has an incomplete dark brown patina. It measures 31.34mm long, 30.38mm wide and 3.86mm thick. It weighs 7.25g. A very similar ring is illustrated in Jackson (1990) No. 149 in particular, but also Nos. 152-155 which are described as harness fittings. A lead window came of late medieval to post-medieval date. It is of cruciform plan and H-shaped section from the junction of four panes of glass. There is an integral loop attached to the rear face, possibly soldered on. This would have been to hold a window support rod. Due to its low melting temperature, lead is subject to "creep" at the temperatures in which it is normally used. Creep is a slow, plastic, permanent deformation, which occurs under stress, the resultant shape remaining once the stress is removed. Dimensions: 22 mm long x 18 mm wide x 6 mm thick. Weight: 10.03 gm.

A Late Neolithic to Early Bronze Age scraper, dating to the period 3000 BC-1500 BC. It is a secondary flake, with no sign of flint cortex, and broadly rectangular in shape. It measures 42.51mm in length, 19.6mm wide and 6.15mm thick and weighs 5.2g There is retouching on one edge of the dorsal face at the distal end. The ventral face shows a prominent bulb of percussion and light conchoidal rippling along the whole length. Both faces are light grey in colour.
