A hoard of Roman copper-alloy vessels consisting of a symmetrical flanged bowl strainer, a Bassin Uni, a carinated basin with a foot ring and an Irchester bowl. The vessels were part of a structured Roman deposit with each vessel nestled within another and all contained within the Irchester bowl. The vessels are fragmentary and fragile, the carinated basin and Irchester bowl are in multiple pieces and the bases of the Irchester bowl, cauldron and the Bassin Uni have become detached. A medieval copper alloy single loop buckle with forked spacer dating to c AD 1350-1450. The buckle has an integral forked spacer onto which originally front and back plates had been soldered. The loop of the buckle is ovoid with a small point at the opposite side to the pin and with a small indentation to hold the pin. The loop of the buckl is attached to the remains of the spacer plates, the long ends have broken off. the pin comprises a flat pointed strip of copper alloy which has been wrapped around the bar between the spacer plates. An incomplete post medieval, copper alloy, asymmetrical, flat, decorative strap fitting with separate rivet, probably once a sword belt fitting dating to AD1600 -1700 . There is an early break close to the rivet and so only part of the mount is extant. It has a moulded and engraved foliate design with a rounded, D section knop at one end (part missing), under which is a collar and narrowed neck leading to a circular plate pierced with a crcular perforation. A Roman copper alloy Hod Hill brooch dating to AD 43-75. The brooch is incomplete and all that remains is the top section of the bow. At the top the wings are rolled forward with an indentation in the centre where the pin mechanism fitted. Below the wings the bow narrows and continues downwards with slight narrowing. The bow has a raised lip at the edge and two raised ribs of decoration with sawtooth pattern down them. At the bottom of the decoration the bow widens and has then broken. The back is undecorated. An incomplete cast copper alloy zoomorphic clasp with decorative rigid integral plate, dating to c AD 1250 - 1400. An oval frame expands at the outer end of the clasp into a sub rectangular piece, convex U shape in section, which is the head of a beast, with broad nose or snout, cheeks, almond shape eyes with pronounced brow ridge, and, on the frame itself, moulded longitudinal ridges which represent the hair. A medieval copper alloy thimble dating to c AD 1400-1550. The thimble is a domed type with almost vertical walls, although the thimble is bent and there are some vertical fractures. The thimble is covered in about twelve rows of indentations. Some of the indentations have been pierced all the way through the thimble, probably through wear as the piercings are all in a similar area of the thimble. The indentations are uneven suggesting that they are hand punched. The inside of the thimble is smooth and undecorated. The thimble weighs 4.57g and measures 17.99mm in height, between …

A complete but damaged post-medieval lead cloth seal probably dating from the 16th century AD. On one face is perhaps the Tudor royal coat of arms, ie a moulded shield bearing the Fleur de Lys of France and the three lions of England quarterly. An incomplete late Roman Irchester bowl which was deposited with the rim facing the surface. Roughly a third of the bowl is missing. The bowl is 85mm in height, the base is convex and from the base the body expands to its maximum width just below the rim (256mm) before tapering inwards slightly to the rim (236mm) which has a bevelled edge (2.5mm thick). The omphalos base is convex on the outside and is domed upwards in the centre (70mm in diameter), internally the centre of the raised boss to the rim is 81mm. An early medieval silver penny probably of Ceolwulf I dating to AD 821-823. The coin is incomplete. [COELW]LF REX obverse depicting a finely drawn crowned bust facing right within a penannular ring with a break beneath the head with lines flaring to the edge of the flan and in the centre a cross in saltire with pellets in each quarter. HEREBE+RH[T] reverse the legend in three lines separated by raised lines. Moneyer HEREBERHT. Mint of East Anglia. The mould varies in thickness it is 9.9mm thick at the funnel, the walls are 13.4mm wide at the loop and the walls taper in width to a minimum width of 6.85mm at the blade.
