A Post-medieval ceramic fragment uncertain function, probably structural and decorative, probably dating to c. AD 1700-1800+. North Devon Gravel-tempered ware fabric. A sub-rectangular ceramic fragment, rectangular in cross section and with a potentially up-curving projection from one of its short sides. The projection and one edge are broken, with relatively laminar, unabraded breaks. Ceramic base sherd from a Roman Samian ware vessel, such as a dish or bowl, dating to the period c. AD 120 - 260. Part of the foot ring and the floor of the vessel, projecting at a shallow angle from the top of the foot ring. The fabric is a buff orange colour and is fully oxidised. It is hard and exhibits frequent micaceous inclusions and occasional poorly sorted limestone inclusions. The sherd is heavily abraded, but retains a small amount of lustrous dark orange/red slip. The vessel likely derives from the central Gaulish Lezoux production centre.

A Late Bronze Age vessel of the Post-Deverel-Rimbury 'Plainware' group dating prior to 800 BC. This vessel was hand-made and the fabric is dark grey and includes large, irregular fragments of flint. The fragment consists of the rim shoulder and wall of a large storage jar. Pottery. Four sherds of a pale grey reduced fabric with dark grey to black inclusions to length 1.5mm, probably a Coal Measures fabric, comprising one basal angle and three body sherds. The larger body sherd has an orange cast on its external surface; the others bear a thick dark glaze of indeterminate tint. The base sherd is unglazed. Suggested date: Medieval, 1300-1500.
