Complete Roman copper-alloy trumpet brooch dated to AD 75-175. Mackreth type TR 1.a3a. The brooch has an oval shaped trumpet head, with head-loop, narrowing to the curved upper bow which then tapers towards the foot, terminating in a foot-knob. The upper and lower bow are separated by a mouded knop. The catchplate extends approximately perpendicularly from the reverse of the lower bower bow. A complete silver post medieval button cap dating to the 18th century. The button is discoid in shape and slightly domed. The face of the button is decorated with an incised central double triangular pattern, with incised lines running across the corners on the inside, and triangles projecting from the sides on the outside. Roman copper alloy bow brooch of T-shaped type and of 1st or 2nd century AD date
The brooch is incomplete, missing the leg and pin and is heavily-corroded (with a surviving length of 34.7mm, a surviving depth of 15.3mm and a weight of 14.2g). The missing pin was hinged within tubular wings, now truncated (with a surviving width of 24.2mm and a diameter of 9mm). The axis bar remains within the wings and is made of iron and iron corrosion staining at the rear of the head suggests that the pin was also iron. Two body sherds of Roman Savenake-type greyware of AD 40 to 150. The sherds are a hard fired fabric, pale grey-buff with sparse very find sand temper and occaisional angular quartz inclusions, mostly under 1mm although some up to 2.4mm, not visibly micaceous and with occasional fine limestone inclusions. Both appear burnt, the larger post-breakage. The larger piece has a neatly burnished outer face and a distinct change in profile where the convex lower body meets the concave curved neck similar to Type 9 (as given in Tyers 1996). They weigh 33 grams.

Three everted rim sherds of Roman, probably Savenake-type, greyware jars of AD 40 to 150. The sherds are a hard fired fabric, pale grey-buff with a a medium grey surface. The fabric has sparse very find sand temper and common angular quartz , mostly under 1mm although some up to 1.6mm, not visibly micaceous and with occasional fine limestone and orange grog inclusions. All three are everted rims with rounded outer edges and could be from the same or similar jars. They weigh 39 grams.

Two adjoining body sherds of Roman greyware from an open vessel. The sherds are a medium fired silty fabric, pale grey with abundent very find sand temper and occaisonal angular quartz inclusions, mostly under 1mm although some up to 2.4mm, not visibly micaceous. The vessel form is unclear although there is a distinct step in the profile visible on the inner and outer face with a rouletted band of alternating large and small rectangles defined by indented lines just above the step. 22.20 grams.

Two pieces of burnt clay of total weight 21.02 grams, possibly from an oven or a kiln or less likely burnt daub or cob of uncertain date. One piece is amorphous while one is more clearly shaped into a curved structure. Both have only a few voids from organic inclusions and no imprints as one sees on daub. Very occasional small iron stone and limestone inclusions which almost certainly reflect natural inclusons in the clay rather than temper. A chert core of probable Bronze Age date, c. AD 1600-800. A sub-tetrahedron shaped fragment of brown chert, with large and distinct areas of quartz-like inclusions and areas of a smooth, beige cortex remaining on one face. A series of sub-parallel removals have been struck from this face, through the cortex, leaving overhanging promonotories or lips at he interstice of each removal, suggesting a lack of platform preparation.

An incomplete copper-alloy Post Medieval hair pin, dating to AD 1485-1603. The surviving pin head consists of a circular domed upper element soldered with an inverted conical lower element. The pin shaft runs longitudinally through the head projecting with a flat boss on top of the domed element; at the lower end of the head, the fragment of the surviving pin is bent. The head is decorated with filigree all over the surface depicting a series of cirlces motifs and pellets. Traces of gilding or white metal coating still present.
