Stone possible whetstone. A small dense compact dark grey pebble of triangular section with rounded ends and sharply defined arises between its flat faces, probably initially formed by wind erosion in a dusty or icy environment. The use of improvised whetstones, often recovered from Glacial Drift, was characteristic of a long period from Prehistory, through the Roman period, and up to the Viking Age introduction of s…

A cast copper-alloy ring of post medieval date, likely between the 15th and 18th centuries. Possibly a vervel or hawking ring.
Description: The hoop is D-shaped in cross-section, flat externally and curved internally. The pattern consists of four six petal flowers, with a raised line running around the central circumference of the ring. The copper alloy shows through dark brown, and both light green and dark green where the copper has patinated. This example, due to the decoration and style, probably dates to the middle of the date range give, roughly 16th to 17th century.
