A Post Medieval copper alloy spur fragment probably dating to the 17th or 18th centuries.
The spur is now incomplete and consists of the heel and incomplete arms. The breaks on the arms may have occurred in the plough soil. The arms have a 'D' shaped cross section, with a flat inner surface and convex outer surface. Integral to the exterior edge is a protrusion which originally held the rowel. The protrusion has a circular cross section. The protrusion is sliced in half lengthways. One half at the end curls over the other. This projection extends to a length of 32.7 mm. The object …

A silver pin of Post Medieval date, circa AD 1600-1800.
The pin is broader at the top and narrows to a rounded point. At the upper end is a rectangular slot. The surface of the pin is slightly abraded. The lower end of the pin has been bent slightly.
Comments from Treasure Registrar, Ian Richardson suggest this pin had a functional use rather than a dress accessory. There are no parallels recorded on the PAS database. The bodkin type pins have a rectangular slot along with a circular perforation so this example does not appear to fall in that category. As this object is undiag…

The fantail is decorated with an engraved central chalice shape containing a deep incised heart motif. Bordering the central chalice are four deep incised oblate motifs one of which still contains black niello. It seems probable that all the lines and incised motifs once co…
