Two flakes of flint debitage of possible Late Mesolithic to Early Neolithic date, c. 8000-3000 BC. Both flakes are tertiary and incomplete, missing the distal ends to unpatinated, natural breaks. The two flakes are of different flints, one pale yellow-brown, the other far darker. Both are heavily patinated with traces of iron staining. Flake 1 (6.27g, of darker flint) exhibits a relatively large bulb of percussion, with a series of parallel removals from the dorsal face, obscured by a hinged removal at the proximal end. Flake 2 (4.95g) has a diffuse bulb of percussion, although with a…

The pin is broader at the top and narrows to a rounded point. At the upper end is a rectangular slot. The surface of the pin is slightly abraded. The lower end of the pin has been bent slightly.
Comments from Treasure Registrar, Ian Richardson suggest this pin had a functional use rather than a dress accessory. There are no parallels recorded on the PAS database. The bodkin type pins have a rectangular slot along with a circular perforation so this example does not appear to fall in that category. As this object is undiag…

Summary: Three coins, two silver groats and a contemporaneous Burgundian double patard, found very close together and very close to two groats discovered within two feet of each other in August 2014. They undoubtedly represent further coins from this dispersed hoard and thus addenda to the August 2014 coins (NMS-3D8F5B Treasure no. 2014T655). The crisp condition of the latest new coin, a profile groat of Henry VII, does not much change the date of loss or deposition suggested for the earlier coins. We may assume a date c.1510-20.
