Two flakes of flint debitage of possible Late Mesolithic to Early Neolithic date, c. 8000-3000 BC. Both flakes are tertiary and incomplete, missing the distal ends to unpatinated, natural breaks. The two flakes are of different flints, one pale yellow-brown, the other far darker. Both are heavily patinated with traces of iron staining. Flake 1 (6.27g, of darker flint) exhibits a relatively large bulb of percussion, with a series of parallel removals from the dorsal face, obscured by a hinged removal at the proximal end. Flake 2 (4.95g) has a diffuse bulb of percussion, although with a…

Flint debitage. Two tiny chips with broad or narrow parallel flakes struck from their dorsal sides and with bulbs on their ventral surfaces. White patina suggests they subsequently endured a period of exposure to a calcareous environment. Suggested date: Neolithic, 4000-2350 BC.

Grey flint debitage. Two tiny chips with narrow parallel flakes struck from their dorsal sides and with a bulb or a concavity on their ventral surfaces. Patches of misty patina suggest they were subsequently exposed to a calcareous environment. Suggested date: Late Mesolithic, 7000-4000 BC.

Flint with cortex debitage. A small flake with broad flakes struck from its dorsal side and with a bulb on its ventral surface. Dense creamy patina on all struck surfaces suggests this has endured prolonged exposure to a calcareous environment. Suggested date: Neolithic, 4000-2350 BC.

Grey flint with cortex strip on one, debitage. A small chunk and a small flake, the former with flakes removed from around it and the latter with broad flakes struck from its dorsal side and with a bulbar ventral surface. Suggested date: Neolithic, 4000-2350 BC.

Flint with cortex strip [one only]; debitage. Four flakes with broad flakes struck from their dorsal sides by hard hammer strike, and with a bulb on the ventral surface of the largest, Two more have concave ventral surfaces, while the dorsal and ventral sides are indistinguishable on the last and longest flake. Dense creamy patina has developed over all struck surfaces, suggesting these objects have endured prolonged exposure to a calcareous environment after their deposition. Suggested date: Neolithic, 4000-2350 BC.

Pale grey flint with cortex spots, debitage. Eight small chips of struck flint: five with a bulb on the ventral surface of which at least three also bear scars from the removal of small flakes from their dorsal sides. The remaining three chips also bear flake removal scars; in all cases from hard hammer strike. Patches of misty patina suggest they were subsequently exposed to a calcareous environment. Suggested date: Neolithic, 4000-2350 BC.
