A copper alloy brooch pin of unknown date.
The pin is a very simple design with a small part bent over itself to form a loop. The loop has been filled in with dirt, which has solidified. The shape of the pin has been bent into a thin "S" shape with the terminal broken off.

A Roman copper alloy Penannular brooch segment.
The brooch has only a quater of it's original size. The terminal section is still there with a knopped end and the break edge is 90 degrees from this point.
The whole object may have looked similar to brooch 107 from page 339 of "A Visual Catalogue of Richard Hattatt's Ancient Brooches".
