Grey flint possible knife. Long narrow flake with long narrow parallel bladelets struck from its dorsal side and with an undulating ventral surface. Patches of misty patina suggest the object was exposed to a calcareous environment for a period after its deposition. This is locally interrupted, probably by adventitious edge-on impacts. Suggested date: Late Mesolithic, 7000-4000 BC.

Object type: MICROLITH
Broad period: MESOLITHIC
County: Lincolnshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
Grey flint microlith. A small narrow flake with long narrow parallel bladelets struck from its dorsal side and with a slightly concave ventral surface. Very short abrupt retouch executed from the dorsal aspect defines a hollow in one long edge, while the opposite edge may bear very fine serrations, more easily felt than observed. Creamy patina on struck surfaces suggests the object has endured a period of exposure to a calcareous environment. Suggested date: Late Mesolithic, 7000-4000 BC.
