Two adjoining sherds of a Roman 'Wiltshire imitation samian' dating to c.AD 75-150. The sherds seem to be from just below the rim of a large open vessel, probably a straight sided bowl similar to form 30 or 37 with a small part of the beaded rim visible in the top corner. The fabric appears to be a fairly hard fabric with few inclusions, occasional rounded stone (possibly iron stone, void only visible) and sparsely micaceous. A medieval or post-medieval copper alloy vessel repair fragment. The piece consists of three sheets of copper alloy riveted together with rolled sheet-metal rivets. Of the three sheets of copper alloy, only one appears to have all of its original edges intact. This is trapezoidal in plan and is perforated with eight rivet holes. On top of this sheet is another sheet which appears to have originally been rectangular or trapezoidal in plan but has lost about 20 percent at one corner due to an old break. A fragment of a wheel thrown ceramic vessel of Roman date, circa AD 43 - 400. The fragment is a body sherd from a Terra sigillata, or samian ware, vessel such as a shallow bowl or dish. The fabric is orange with a soft soapy texture and a glossy red slip on the exterior surface. Heterogeneous ovate inclusions are present within the fabric. The fragment is curved in profile. The fragment is 49.7mm long, 44.6mm wide, 7.6mm thick and weighs 13.7g. Terra sigillata are the classic fine wares of the early Roman period with roots which stretch back to the mid first century BC in Italy.…

Patches of a green glaze is present on the outer surface of the fragment. The fragment is 28.9mm long, 42.3mm wide, 5.6mm thick and weighs 8.3g.
