Roman (1st to 2nd century) Trumpet brooch: The brooch is incomplete and is missing the bow head. The bow is D-shaped in section and has a moulded section with transverse ribs and grooves with an expanded central section. The lower portion tapers to a foot and is undecorated. The foot is slightly bulbous. On the reverse there is a small solid catchplate. The brooch has a mid-grey-green patina. A Roman brooch of Colchester derivative, Polden Hill (flat wing ends type, West Midlands), cf. Mackreth 2011, 4.j1. Plate 48, AD c. 120-240. The copper alloy brooch is incomplete. Roman to Post Medieval (mid-1st and mid-18th centuries) furniture fitting; stud. The copper alloy stud or mount head is a domed circle with a hollow underside. The underside has an integral square sectioned shank protruding from the centre. The shank, which is slightly bent, tapers to a blunt point. The surface of the stud has an incomplete mottled mid green patina. It measures 19.71mm long, 28.68mm diameter and weighs 12.39g. It is difficult to date the stud, there are Post Medieval examples which are identified as furniture or household studs due to the square sectioned shank.…

An incomplete copper alloy rowel spur, of Post Medieval dating (AD 1700 to AD 1900). Around 50% of the spur is present, consisting of a small amount of each arm, the neck and a nearly complete rowel box. The arms have a flattish oval cross section. Originally both arms would have formed a 'U' shape with the neck. The neck curves towards the rowel box. The piercings on both arms of the rowel box are broken. An incomplete copper alloy, probable dagger chape, dating to the Medieval period, between AD 1200 - 1500. The chape is sub-triangular in plan and oval in section. There is a pierced central core at the base of the chape. No join is apparent, so it is likely that the artefact was cast and then the core added. The core is pierced along its length, possibly to locate a thin point or to allow moisture to drain away.
