A lead alloy weight of possible Medieval to Post-Medieval date, circa (AD 1300 - 1700). The sides of the object are slightly flared and the object can stand. There is a large circular piercing at the upper edge that transverses through the object. The sides of the weight flare to the flat base with a diameter measuring 12.6 mm. The weight has a well-developed cream coloured patina across all surfaces. The object was possibly used as a hanging weight, possibly as a net or line weight. Lead possible weight. Cast rectangular block with cut ends, and with tiny pits over its largest opposed flat surfaces. Lightly patinated. Marks of this character are sometimes ascribed to chewing by vermin or children, but in this case they do not appear anywhere except on opposed sides, and so may be formed deliberately, perhaps with the point of a knife.
