An incomplete copper-alloy 'Birdlip' or 'Beaked Bow' type brooch of late Iron Age to early Roman date, c.50 BC - AD 50. The brooch comprises an ovate head from the reverse of which a corroded spring mechanism projects. The pin no longer remains. The front of the head extends straight out into a circular sectioned upper bow, possibly with ridge and groove decoration though corrosion and wear makes this difficult to determine with certainty. An incomplete cast copper-alloy 'Yorkshire Type' socketed axehead of Late Bronze Age date, 1000 - 800 BC. The axehead is wedge shaped with a sub-square socket, the mouth has been lost to old worn breaks. Internally the socket tapers and narrows to the cutting edge. Externally the axehead tapers and narrows along the body before expanding into the blade and cutting edge which flares towards each blade tip. Much of one surface is damaged, broken and worn. A complete copper-alloy strap mounted terret, Lewis' Type 19 of Roman date, AD 43 - 200. The terret comprises a main ovate ring with integral rectangular loop. The main ring is bottom-heavy displaying wear to the upper edge. The metal has a mid-green patina and is worn. The terret is 35.4mm long, 35mm wide, 8.9mm thick and weighs 25.1g. Terret rings were used as rein guides on chariots or carts used during the Late Iron Age to Early Roman period. They were set in a line along the yoke and five terrets were usually used per chariot. A complete copper-alloy thimble of medieval date, c.AD 1300 - 1500. The thimble has a circular base with fairly parallel sides which curve towards the top where they form the crown, creating a dome. A series of irregular spiralling pits extend from the crown towards the base. The metal has a dark green patina and is worn. The thimble is 19.9mm in height, 19.8mm in diameter, 1.2mm thick and weighs 7.2g.
