A medieval copper-alloy rotary key dating c. 1200-1400. The key is rather crudely made from a single sheet of metal. The terminal is in the form of a flat circular loop, which then extends into a shank of sub-oval section. A worn T-shaped bit extends from the shank. A pointed section of shank extends beyond the bit. A number of very similar crude and simple rotary keys are shown in Egan (1998, 112), which he dates as from the late 12th - to late 14th centuries.
