An incomplete copper alloy bow brooch. Probably a Colchester derivative. The pin is missing. The wings are flat and open and probably housed an integral coiled pin mechanism. There are traces of iron corrosion product at the rear of the wings. The bow projects downwards from the wings and tapers to a corroded and bent foot. At the foot is a small remnant of a catchplate.

An incomplete copper-alloy one-piece brooch of 'Nauheim derivative' La Tene III type of the Late Iron Age or Early Roman period (c. AD 10-c. AD 100).
Some of the spring, the pin and catch-plate are missing.
The brooch has a head with an internal chord. It has an incomplete bilateral four-coil spring which extended to form the pin, now missing. Acopper-alloy enamelled disc brooch of Roman date.
The centre of the flat-sectioned plate is occupied by a now-empty circular setting; surrounding this is a ring of alternating red and blue enamel insets. On the reverse, the copper-alloy spring and pin are attached to a single lug, and the catchplate, located opposite, is squashed.

Copper alloy Augenfibel/eye brooch. Cast and spring fastened bow brooch, possible comparable to Mackreth 2011, Chapter 6, type Augen 1.2, A spring of five coils has a chord which passes round the front of the brooch to be clasped by a lug. A gently d-section curved upper bow ends at an inconspicuous stop-moulding, below which a straight and lightly keeled lower bow continues to an oval-ended foot. A plain unpierced catch plate projects from the back of the lower bow. Suggested date: Late Iron Age to Early Roman, 25 BC-75 AD.

Copper alloy brooch. Colchester derivative brooch, probably a hinged form, Mackreth 2011, type CD H indeterminate. Probably plain tubular wings [one lost] clenched behind retained an axis bar for a hinged pin [both lost]. A D-section tapered bow clasped the wings. This may have had cut-out compartments along its lower extent, though this may equally be the result of ferocious corrosion. Suggested date: Early Roman, 70-150.

Fragment of a copper alloy Early Saxon cruciform brooch, probably Martin Type 1, dating to the period c. AD 420 - 500. It commences in an old break at the junction between the bow and the catchplate. A transverse collar is visible along the line of the break. The the junction between the catchplate and foot is a moulded triple collar below which projects the moulded zoomorphic foot in the form of an animal's head. It exhibits bulbous eyes set either side of a long triangular-sectioned head and bulbous flared nostrils.

An incomplete copper alloy Colchester-derivative (Polden Hill) brooch of Roman dating (AD 80 - AD 120).
Around 75% of the brooch is present, with the foot, catch plate, axis bar, spring and pin are missing.
The wings are broadly semi- cylindrical in profile with with a pierced flat wing cap. A vertical ridge is present as decoration at the ends of each of the wings. A complete copper-alloy Roman penannular brooch, dating to the period AD 43 - 410. It is circular, measuring 27.11mm in diameter and has a thickness of 2.34mm. The frame is round in section with tightly coiled terminals, which fold back on themselves at right angles to the plane of the ring and terminate in rounded knops. The pin is intact, undecorated and curls under the frame. It measures 2.88mm wide at this cuff, tapering inwards in width until a point, measuring 33.02mm in length. In total, the brooch weighs 4.6g.

An incomplete Roman copper alloy Colchester derivative, double-lugged, Harlow type brooch. The lower bow and catchplate are missing . The wings are C-shaped in cross section; there are 11 spring coils visible and the catchplate extends from high up on the reverse of the bow - surviving as moulded rib. No visible decoration. The patina is very pitted. Dating to the period AD 43-100.

A Roman copper alloy Colchester derivative double-pierced lug (or Harlow) brooch, probably dating to c. AD 50-100. The body of the brooch is almost complete, missing only the axis bar, pin and reverse of the catchplate.
The wings are complete and extend to a width of 24.6mm. These have a shallow plano-convex (D-shaped) cross section, with a flat reverse.
