A cut fragment originating from a sestertius struck for Faustina I, dating to c. AD 161-175. Reece period 8. Reverse: uncertain due to wear and cutting of the coin. Mint of Rome. This fragment consists c. 20% of the original flan, with the edges apparently having been hammered into a square shape before a neat truncation has removed this slice from one edge. The motivation for this action may have been votive in character, though this remains uncertain.

A worn copper-alloy sestertius struck for Marcus Aurelius (AD 161-180) dating to c. AD 171-172. Reece period 8. Reverse: probably IMP VI COS III S-C, Roma seated left on cuirass with oval and hexagonal shields, holding transverse spear in right hand, resting left elbow on a round shield. Mint of Rome. C.f BMC, p. 622, no. 1420 and RIC III, p. 295, no. 1037, as well as HAMP-152717 on the PAS database.
