Object type: BUCKLE
Broad period: POST MEDIEVAL
County: Norfolk
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
Distorted post-medieval copper alloy double-looped buckle frame, both loops oval, with a lobe at the ends of the bar and a moulded rosette in the centre of the edges. Both rosettes are so poorly cast as to be almost smooth and featureless (not the result of wear). Part of one side is broken. Rust on the bar suggests an iron pin. The form is comparable with Whitehead 2003, no. 408. An example from Camber Castle was found in a context dated 1543-1637 (Biddle et al. 2001, 260, fig. 7.2 no. 27). Length c.45mm. Width 25mm. c.1550 - c.1650.
