A complete (five pieces) copper-alloy post-medieval traveller's writing set, dating to the period AD 1800-1900. It consists of an etui (case), the lid, the inkwell/base, the pen and a possible quill/unidentified organic material. The lid is cylindrical and hollow, measuring 22.79mm in length, 13.79mm in width, and weighs 3.92g. At the top there is a moulded ridge, and two concentric bands, parallel to one another, beneath it. A ?base silver/ copper-alloy tinned finger ring of keeled type dating to the third or fourth century AD. The finger ring possesses an oval hoop which is rectangular in section. The hoop expands to form the flat triangular shoulders which are decorated with marginal grooves and notches. The bezel is circular in plan with an integrally-cast raised setting, which is incised with three triangles. The internal ring diameter (lengthwise) is 20mm and 18mm (vertically). An incomplete copper-alloy Roman P-shaped brooch, dating to the period AD 175-250. The brooch measures 60.88mm in length and 22.51mm in width. It is 17mm thick and weighs 12.63g. The patina is quite rough, the colour is green. There are remains of gilded gold on the obverse and gilded silver on the reverse.The pin is missing. The wings are 8.27mm long and 22.51mm wide. An incomplete Post Medieval ceramic stoneware Siegburg drinking bowl dating from AD1350-1500. The sherd consists of part of the rim and bowl of the vessel. The rim is decorated with an applied round prunt. The vessel is unglazed and has a light grey fabric with some discoloration from its deposition environment. The complete vessel would have been a shallow drinking bowl with a thumbed pedestal foot, see Gaimster (1997:168 Fig 2) for a complete example.
