A complete (five pieces) copper-alloy post-medieval traveller's writing set, dating to the period AD 1800-1900. It consists of an etui (case), the lid, the inkwell/base, the pen and a possible quill/unidentified organic material. The lid is cylindrical and hollow, measuring 22.79mm in length, 13.79mm in width, and weighs 3.92g. At the top there is a moulded ridge, and two concentric bands, parallel to one another, beneath it. An incomplete copper-alloy Roman brooch, dating to the period AD 50-175. The brooch measures 30.12mm in length and 4.52mm in width. It is 9.8mm thick and weighs 1.62g. Part of the brooch's bow, as well as its head including the pin, are missing. The surviving section of the bow narrows from 4.52mm at the top to 1.5mm at the foot. The catchplate measures 9.8mm in width, is 1.77mm thick and features a 2.84mm wide piercing.
