A complete but damaged post-Medieval lead alloy two-disc cloth seal (c. 1600.c. 1800). Probably a cloth workers personal seal. Disc 1: Raised design depicting a standing bird (probably a cockerel) with wings closed facing left and initials: 'F L' at sides. All within a beaded circle. Disc 2: Plain. The joining strip is complete but bent. The seal is buff and very fragile. Length: 25.0mm; width: 19.0mm; thickness: 4.3mm. Weight: 9.24g. Copper alloy mount. A cast plate with straight sides and a large trefoil terminal with three rounded lobes. A pair of holes are drilled through the uppermost lobe and through the centre of the plate, the former is countersunk behind. The other lobes bear centrally placed blind pits, with a line of three more pits in a basal field bordered by single and double incised lines. Three small copper-alloy chain links, possibly jewellery-related but of uncertain date. The chain links comprise two rectangular-section loops joined together by a small circular-section wire ring. A copper alloy wire ring possibly dating to the Roman period. The object consists of two strips of wire which are bent into a circle to form the band. The ends overlap and curl around the band forming two slip knots. The strips of wire are circular in cross-section. Dimensions: 19mm in diameter, 11mm in width at the bezel, 1.50g. This basic style of slip-knotted wire ring had a long life (there are Roman examples) but was perhaps most popular in the 7th century AD, when it was most commonly used on necklaces.
