An Early Medieval to Medieval copper alloy strap junction, probably dating to c. AD 1000-1100. The strap fitting consists of a central sub-rectangular boss, with a concave reverse, and four perforated lobes; one expanding from each angle. Each perforation retains an iron rivet in situ. The boss is zoomorphic cast into the form of an en face animal mask. This is fairly rudimentary, with large concave piriform ears converging into a sub-triangular nose flanked by sub-oval eyes. A fragment of a copper alloy early medieval (Anglo-Saxon) cruciform brooch. Only the foot of the brooch survives. This has a simple zoomorphic terminal at its lower end consisting of a rounded 'snout', above this an ovoid 'eye' to either side, and a slight triangular facet on the forehead continuing into a ridge running down the centre of the head. The strap end is triangular in shape tapering towards the terminal end, and would have originally had two circular attachment holes at the wider split end. A fragment of a copper-alloy pair of Middle Anglo-Saxon tweezers dating to the Early Medieval period, c. AD 700-900. The fragment comprises one arm of a pair. The arm is flat and triangular in plan. The upper surface of the arm is decorated with a marginal pattern of incised dots and a further central line of incised dots, creating to right angled triangles. The brooch is incomplete, missing many of the inlays, the pin and peripheral lugs (with a length of 18.6mm a width of 24.8mm and a weight of 3.1g).
