An incomplete and partially corroded cast copper-alloy strap mounted and skirted terret of Roman date (1st/2nd century AD). This small harness fitting is characteristically Roman, with the loop protected by a 'skirt' (Geake 2001, 53). The loop, through which the rein would have passed, has broken off from the centre of the upper part of the fitting, leaving only the cental protrusion. At the base it is broadly rectangular in cross section (31.14mm long by 18.39mm wide). The loop is attached directly to the 'skirt'.
