A very corroded 17th century copper-alloy farthing trade token issued by the town of Dover in Kent c.1668. Obverse: St Martin on horseback with a beggar. Reverse: a shield containing the town arms and an inscription of DOVER * FARTHING * 68 (Williamson, No. Kent 199)

An incomplete copper-alloy Post-Medieval farthing traders token struck for Nathaniel Howlett, a draper based in Mildenhall, dating to 1667. Williamson 248.
Obverse: the draper's arms, NATHANIEL HOWLETT
Reverse: initials NH, rosette flanked by pellet above and below, IN MILDINHALL 1667.
Farthing tokens were first issued in 1648 as a response to the lack of small change, with halfpenny tokens following later. They were finally suppressed in 1674 under Royal Authority. This example has been pierced off centre.
