Fragment of a cast copper alloy horse bell with a rounded head with an integral square suspension loop that is 19 mm wide, 18 mm in height and 5.5 mm thick, with an oval perforation that is 6 mm long and 3.5 mm wide internally. The remains of the bell expand outwards from the head, which is 34 mm in diameter, to an edge of several jagged points, the longest of which is 41 mm in length. The bell is 3 mm thick at this broken edge and 48 mm in diameter. Silver annular brooch with pin intact that dates from the Post-medieval period. The frame has been bent inwards since deposition and would have originally been more circular in plan. The brooch was formed from a circular disc with the centre cut out and then the 'washer' was placed in a doming block and then formed with a punch to create the convex shape of the frame so that it is C-shaped in section (Martin Page pers comm). A fine grained, pale grey, oblong shaped sandstone, with some plough damage at one end of the reverse face, used as a whetstone. Both faces are smoothed by wear, and the edges are rounded and show evidence of being used for sharpening blades. The improvised use of various stones from glacial drift for sharpening or rubbing stones is characteristic of the Roman and Early Medieval periods until the Viking Age, when Scandinavian stones from the Telemark region became widely available. A cast lead alloy button dating from the post-medieval period, AD1500-1700. The button survives almost complete with only limited damage around the rim. Circular in plan, it has a slightly convex front face, while the reverse demonstrates a casting seam with an integral loop set at its midpoint, the shank of which is circular in section. Incomplete copper alloy Colchester derivative brooch of Mackreth's (2011) Type CD RH dating to the period c. ad 43 - 65. The pin, foot and catchplate are missing. The C-shaped wings are incomplete, both terminating in a worn break. Projecting from the top of the head is the stub of the rearhook. The oval-sectioned bow arches back from the head and exhibits a slight median rib extending from the rearhook to the bottom of the bow which terminates in an old break.
