Copper alloy finger ring with an empty circular collet for an intaglio. The hoop is oval in profile and D-shaped in section, tapering from the wide (10 mm wide), slightly bevelled shoulders to the narrower base (4 mm wide) of the hoop. The roughly circular collet on the oval bezel is formed from a raised collar which creates a recess, now empty, which would have contained an intaglio made from glass or a gemstone. The collar of the collet is 9 mm in diameter and 2 mm in height, and the internal diameter of the collet for the stone is 7 mm.
The ring likely belongs to Henig's (1974) …
