Copper alloy mount of probable post-medieval date. It is hexagonal in plan, with the stubs of two curved attachment spikes projecting from the rear - these appear to have been cast integrally. The outer face is decorated in relief with a 6 petalled Tudor rose inside a tressured border, accentuated by small knops at the points of the hexagon. The surface is badly corroded and if it was originally gilded, as seems likely, there are no remaining traces.
Read, in 'Metal artefacts of antiquity' (2001), ascribes 16th or 17th century dates to similar items.
