Fragment of Roman snake bracelet, flat-sectioned band with notched rib bordering sides and triangular head, convex flanged outside edges, decorated with incised notches. The body of the snake with incised median line between flanking multiple short nicks. Width of head 14mm, width of body 11mm. Maximum thickness 2.5mm. Flattened, extant length 46.5mm (diameter unknown). 2nd-3rd century.

Copper-alloy, Roman steelyard weight in the shape of a female bust, AD 43-410. The weight is moulded in high relief, with silver studs inset into the eyes of the figure. The figure wears a tall rounded helmet, which may have represented the goddess Minerva, similar to finds from South Shields, Figures 394, 472 and 473. The torso has no arms and bears a representation of a sleeve-less garment with a high neckline and three circular decorations across the chest. A Roman copper alloy bracelet of expanding type made of a single piece of circular sectioned wire, 3rd century in date. The ends of the wire are overlapped and then each is wrapped around the main loop of the bracelet giving an adjustable catch. The ends taper from the point they start being wrapped around, both ends are wrapped around five times It is slightly out of shape, measuring 77.38mm x 68.32mm in diameter. Crummy (1983) illustrates a very similar bracelet (page 39 no.1601) from a third century context in Colchester.

A copper alloy button, dating from the post medieval period. This particular button is rather corroded, causing the button to become worn, this has lead to straight sides, instead of its usual distinictive circular shape. The buttons obverse side has a plain checker pattern design, with the reverse side containing what remains of the buttons loop, which has mostly gone.

An incomplete, lead, post medieval, jug or tankard handle, AD.1500-1800. The object comprises a curled tapering piece of lead which is triangular in cross section. The widest end of the piece forms the main attachment for the handle to the vessel. It is triangular and has a large central rivet, that has been distorted. Inline with the minor axis of the loop, the outer edge of the frame has two opposite projections: a globular knop and a recessed rectangular box containing redish material which might be iron corrosion. An incomplete copper-alloy post medieval strap fitting, dating to the period AD 1600-1700. The fitting is 23.79mm in length and 6.98mm in width. It is 1.7mm thick and weighs 1.18g. The fitting consists of three different sized triangular shaped sections, the middle one a bit wider than the top one but broadly similar in shape, the lower one being the smallest. On the reverse are two integral lugs, one of which has broken off. The other one is about 4.96mm long and bent upwards. For a similar strap fitting cf. Brian Read, Metal Artefacts of Antiquity (2001) p.34 no.289.

A complete copper alloy medieval buckle plate. It consists of a long rectangular strip of sheet metal, which has been folded in two widthways. Each outer end curves inwards slightly and there is an in situ iron rivet holding the outers ends of both halves together. There is a hole in the centre of the inner edge holding an in situ simple copper alloy wire pin. Plates such as this one were attached to range of buckle frame styles in use from the mid-13th to 14th century. Length: 23.41mm, width: 17.38mm, thickness: 5.57mm, weight: 6.87g
