Copper alloy strap fitting. Cast D-shaped loop with a collared sub-spherical knop opposite its shortest and straight side. An integrally cast rivet of length 3mm projects externally from that side, slightly bent. Suggested date: late Medieval, 1350-1400. Length 18.5mm, width 11.5mm, thickness 3.2mm, weight 1.16g.

A copper alloy post medieval strap fitting or belt mount, dating to c. 17th century. The mount is lozenge shaped, with a trefoil shaped projection on one edge and a knob with smaller knop in plan on the other edge. There is very little trace of decoration, with a possible raised line across the centre of the trefoil and a rusty red patina on the uppermost surface that could indicate a previous surface treatment. Incomplete post-medieval copper alloy strap-hook, cast plate with an elongated hook (end missing) springing from and bent behind the top of a bearded head of a long-haired man (or lion?), with curvilinear moulding on the body and arms forming loops, twin transversely-set perforations, broken across large laterally-set terminal loop, lower part missing. An incomplete copper-alloy Roman strap fitting. It has an oval loop and a D-shaped cross section frame. Inline with the minor axis of the loop, the outer edge of the frame has two opposite projections: a globular knop and a recessed rectangular box containing redish material which might be iron corrosion. An incomplete copper-alloy post medieval strap fitting, dating to the period AD 1600-1700. The fitting is 23.79mm in length and 6.98mm in width. It is 1.7mm thick and weighs 1.18g. The fitting consists of three different sized triangular shaped sections, the middle one a bit wider than the top one but broadly similar in shape, the lower one being the smallest. On the reverse are two integral lugs, one of which has broken off. The other one is about 4.96mm long and bent upwards. For a similar strap fitting cf. Brian Read, Metal Artefacts of Antiquity (2001) p.34 no.289.

An incomplete copper alloy strap fitting or belt mount dating to the Medieval period (c. AD 1250-1400). The mount has a circular plano-convex body with five engraved lines across it horizontally. Two squared lobes project from the main body at opposite ends. The back of the body is hollow and concave, whilst the back of the lobes are flat. There are two rivets holes in the lobes, one of which retains the rivet in situ. A comparable example can be seen on the database at SUR-3AD936. A complete copper alloy swivel, probably from a harness dating to the Medieval period, (1100-1300). The object consists of two loops (one trapezoidal, one oval) which are attached together by a central lug. The lug is integral to one of the halves and passes through a hole on the opposite half. One loop is semi rectangular in shape and the smaller loop is oval shaped. It has a dark green patina and is in good condition, with a full swivel movement. A copper-alloy zoomorphic strap fitting, dating to the late first to third centuries AD. The stud comprises a hemispherical-section plate in the form of an animal, possibly intended to represent a boar, facing left.
