An incomplete, copper alloy, Late Medieval- Post Medieval, scabbard chape, AD.1400-1600. The chape is formed from a single sheet of copper alloy that has been rolled to form a conical shape, a rivet hole is present at the wide end of the cone, to secure it to the leather scabbard or sheath. The closed end of the chape has been formed by cutting the sheet into triangles and pressing them shut. There is some damage at this end of the chape that has resulted in the loss of some of the closure. The top of the chape is also damaged around the edges. Chapes such as this were common on small…

A pair of incomplete, post medieval, cast lead, cockrels, AD.1800-1950. The cockrels are posed slightly differently but are stylistically identical and probably come from a set. One is rearing up while the other is stretched low. They are perhaps a pair of fighting cockrels. They have been manufactured flat with the details of the birds picked out in cast relief.
