An incomplete Medieval copper alloy double loop oval buckle dating to c.1350-1450 AD. The buckle is D-shaped in cross-section with bevelled inside edges and a narrowed pin bar. The pin bar is sub-rectangular in cross section. Near the centre is a brown coloured residue which suggests that the pin was made of iron. The buckle has a light green patina and has no decoration. The buckle is 25mm in length, 19.6mm in width, 2.7mm in thickness, and weighs 2.60g For similar buckles see Egan & Pritchard 2002, page 86, fig. 53. A medieval cast copper-alloy single looped D-shaped buckle, dating to the period AD 1250-1400. The buckle is 26.84mm in length and 16.68mm in width. It is 3.28mm thick and weighs 2.93g. The frame is 4.33mm at its widest spot opposite the strap bar and narrows to 2.33mm as it goes towards the bar. The strap bar is narrowed and offset, 20mm long, 1.84mm wide and 2.66mm thick. The pin has been folded around the strap bar. It is 14.5mm long and 1.75mm wide and thick. Cf. Ross Whitehead, Buckles (2003) p.19.
