Incomplete medieval copper alloy strap end dating to the period c. AD 1270 - 1450. It consists of a single piece of sheet copper alloy, folded along one side, the front plate now largely missing due to old damage. What remains of the front plate exhibits an engraved, probably zoomorphic design consisting of a splayed foot on a stippled background. The back plate is undecorated and exhibits two circualr rivet holes retaining the stubs of copper alloy rivets. See: Egan & Pritchard, 2002, p. 134 - 135 for similar forms.

The button and loop fastener is of the single headed variety and exhibits a teardrop shaped head decorated with a lenticular moulding at the apex of the point. A cast object with tapering lunate D-section arms at the end of a short waisted shank with a terminal expansion to circular form with a flat face of diameter 18.7mm. The arms are flat on their outer side. The flat face of the discoid lug bears relict traces of a possibly stamped motif with a circular element off-centre. Abraded. A fragment of silver rod or ingot, probably originally part of an Early Medieval decorated armring, later cut for use as Viking hack-silver. The find consists of a short length of a curved silver rod of kite-shaped section (deltoid) that has been cut obliquely across both ends.
